About

Mr. Darius Jehangir Kakalia has been associated with the firm since 1976.

He has been on the board of listed and other reputed Indian companies/corporate entities as a professional, non-executive and independent director.

He is a member of the Bombay Incorporated Law Society and the Bombay Bar Association. He was a former Lecturer of law at K.C. Law College (University of Mumbai) and was also appointed as an examiner by the University of Mumbai.

He is also on the panel of Arbitrators of the Hon’ble High Court of Judicature at Bombay.

He commenced practice as a commercial lawyer and built an extensive transactional and litigation practice over five decades, having background in corporate commercial matters, setting up of Joint Ventures, Mergers and Acquisitions, ADR's and GDR's as well as real estate transactions and disputes resolution and litigation and arbitrations related to these sectors and areas of practice.

He has specialization in the power sector litigation and projects, acting for large infrastructure and power companies and has advised consortiums for the bids with respect to the 4000 Mw Ultra Mega Power projects that have been proposed by the Power Corporation of India. He has extensive experience in power projects and has acted for power companies for setting up of Ultra Mega Power Projects. He has regularly appeared before the MERC, the Bombay High Court and the Supreme Court of India with respect to various litigations relating to disputes in the infrastructure and power sector.
